Ukraine’s import tax breaks for generators, Starlink come to an end

Ukrainian no longer enjoy preferential treatment for the import of generators and Starlink systems as they expire on May 1, the State Customs Service reports.

Value added tax (VAT) and import duties will be charged again for goods such as power generators, inverters, and other equipment, as well as systems providing satellite Internet access.

The taxation also applies to goods provided free of charge by the Energy Community as assistance for the restoration and repair of the infrastructure of electricity companies.

In November 2022, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine exempted satellite Internet equipment (Starlink), as well as spare parts and components for the manufacture of power generators from import duties and VAT.

Before that, the Ukrainian government exempted generators, electric motors, and heaters from duties and VAT.
