Akhmetov’s D.Trading expands into grain trading

D.Trading, a Ukrainian energy trading company owned by Ukraine’s richest man, Rinat Akhmetov, has entered the grain trading sector.

“The first thousand tons were shipped to a customer,” Dmytro Malyar, D.Trading’s general director said on Facebook on Dec. 26.

“This marks the initial practical step of the company in a new trading sector.”

D.Trading has already established an agricultural office in Odesa, according to Malyar.

“We will provide new market opportunities for agricultural producers and focus on developing export potential,” he added.

D.Trading previously operated in the electricity, coal, and gas markets.

HarvEast, a Ukrainian company managing agricultural assets with a land bank of over 127,000 hectares as of the full-scale Russian invasion, is part of the System Capital Management or SCM (Ukrainian holding company). Rinat Akhmetov is the sole owner of SCM.
