Ukrainian parliament brings back 18% online casino tax

The Ukrainian parliament has reintroduced a 18% turnover tax for online casino operators, Danylo Hetmantsev, the Chair of the parliamentary Finance Committee, reported via Telegram on Aug. 10.

According to Hetmantsev, this will generate at least UAH 1.5 billion ($41 million) in annual fiscal revenue.

Ukrainian MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak clarified that the 18% tax aims at turnover – not revenue of online betting and gambling operators.

This is also known as GGR (gross gaming revenue) tax, which includes the taxation of the total amount of all bets, minus gross winnings.
