Ukraine’s international trade declines by 35%

Over January 2023, Ukraine’s trade turnover amounted to $7.9 billion, which is 35% less than in January 2022, the press service of the State Customs Service reported on Feb. 22.

During January of this year, $4.8 billion worth of goods were imported to Ukraine, and $3.1 billion were exported. At the same time, taxable imports amounted to $4.0 billion – around 80% of all incoming goods.

The tax burden per 1 kilogram of taxable imports in January 2023 amounted to $0.44/kg, which is 60% more than in January 2022.

Most of all goods were imported to Ukraine from China ($910 million), Poland and ($440 million), and Turkey ($424 million).

When it comes to exports from Ukraine, most of all goods went through Poland — $464 million, Romania — $285 million, and China — $284 million.

In the total, of the volume of goods imported in January 2023, 71% were:

·       machinery, equipment and transport – $1.4 billion;

·       fuel and energy products – $1.3 billion;

·       products of the chemical industry – $720 million;

The top three most exported goods from Ukraine are:

●         food products – $2.1 billion;

●         mineral and metal products – $258 million;

●         machinery, equipment and transport – $245 million.

On these, UAH 119.1 million ($3.24 million) were paid to the budget, which came from the customs clearance of the export of goods for which an export duty is set.
