Polish company creating unique demining equipment for Ukraine

Poland’s Pronar, a major manufacturer of agricultural machinery, is patenting a special machine for demining fields and construction sites with mass production expected to begin in 2024, Pronar’s Director of Trade and Marketing Radoslaw Bielecki revealed in a press release on Oct. 24.

“A team of 150 engineers is working very closely with partners in Ukraine to overcome challenges that exist…mined agricultural fields…to ensure that agricultural machinery has special integrated systems that can handle these challenges,” Bielecki said.

Bielecki refused to disclose more details about the machine’s characteristics until the patenting process is complete, noting that the vehicle will be automated, can be controlled remotely, and can be used in fields, at construction sites, and in other open areas.

This is yet another product line that Pronar has designed specifically for use in Ukraine.

“The newest line is shredding machines that allow us to raze the places where businesses will continue to grow in order to prepare locations for new construction,” Bielecki revealed.

Pronar also exports snowplows, spreaders, and sweepers to.

Ukraine’s Economy Ministry noted earlier that there are 30 mine-clearing machines in the country, of which 25 are constantly in operation.

On Sept. 27, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said that about 174,000 square kilometers of Ukraine remain potentially mined.

On Sept. 29, Switzerland’s Federal Council approved a $110 million package for demining Ukraine.

In early October, Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, together with partners, announced the launch of the Minefields Honey project, which involves raising funds for clearing Ukrainian territory of landmines.

Ukraine and Croatia also signed a bilateral intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in demining.
