National Multiplex MX-7 digital broadcasting ready to cover over 90% of Ukraine

Broadcasting, Radiocommunications & Television Concern (BRTC) is ready to launch the nationwide Multiplex MX-7 digital broadcasting network, State Service of Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine (SSSCIP) reported on May 4.

The VHF band broadcasting will cover over 90% of Ukraine, including Russian-occupied areas. It will also reach settlements near the Belarusian and Russian borders, the message reads.

The Multiplex MX-7 signal won’t be coded. The TV channel bundle will be provided free of charge.

The BRTC has announced the technical readiness of the MX-7 complex. Now, a tender will be launched among TV channels for broadcasting via the complex.”

The launch of MX-7 — the nationwide digital multiplex TV network — is an important step in confronting Russian propaganda,” SSSCIP Head Yurii Shchyhol said.

The agency has done everything possible to provide a signal to citizens who are deprived of the opportunity to watch Ukrainian TV, he said.

The BTRC announced the upcoming release of the state Multiplex MX-7 digital broadcasting in February 2022.

Ukraine’s government approved in August 2021 the MX-7 national multiplex construction program which included purchase of 158 digital television transmitters that enable streaming of up to 12 television channels and three public radio stations.

The state guaranteed funds were allocated for the initiative back in October 2021.
