Even as the war rages on, Ukraine has a range of promising projects to present to investors, Oleksandr Kubrakov, Ukraine’s Vice Prime Minister for Recovery and Minister of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine, has said.
Kubrakov announced on his Facebook page on June 17 that he was presenting projects at the G7 Transport Ministers’ Summit in Japan.
Among the projects was a “transport visa-free regime.”
“We already have something to show and offer to international partners,” Kubrakov said.
“First of all, we managed to turn the Danube Port Cluster into a powerful logistics hub in a short period of time. Thanks to the modernization of port infrastructure and dredging of berths, we managed to increase transshipment in the Danube ports by 4.5 times.”
He also noted that Ukraine is developing a “transport visa-free regime” with the European Union, road and rail border infrastructure, as well as logistics potential.
Kubrakov noted that Ukraine, an export-oriented country, has been forced to completely reformat its logistics. Until Feb. 24, 2022, almost 60% of all trade passed through seaports, while now most exports and imports are transported by rail and road.
“This has also become a challenge for neighboring countries,” he added.
“The blocking agricultural exports by land against the backdrop of an unstable grain corridor could have resulted in a food catastrophe for the world.”
Global solutions and a clear strategy of international support for the development of alternative logistics routes are needed, the minister said.
