Ministry of Reconstruction of Ukraine and European Commission will be able to officially start negotiations on extension of Agreement on Liberalization of Freight Transport between Ukraine and EU, the ministry reported on April 29.
The European Commission proposes to extend the “transport visa-free regime” for at least a year, with the possibility of extending it for an additional six months.
New bilateral transportation argeement will last at least until June 2025 inclusive, the Ministry said.
Minister of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development, Oleksandr Kubrakov, emphasized the importance of changes to extended Agreement being “clear, transparent” and not restricting Ukrainian carriers in the free transportation of goods to and from Ukraine.
Currently, Ukraine has a “transport visa-free regime” with 36 countries, including the European Union. In 2023, Ukraine agreed on such an opportunity with Norway and North Macedonia and extended relevant agreement with Moldova and Turkey.
In April 2024, Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine agreed with Ministry of Transport and Maritime Affairs of Montenegro to liberalize all freight traffic between two countries, starting June 1, 2024.
