Ukraine has enough port capacity to cover all export needs: Odesa ports account for 87% of agricultural products sent to other countries. Suspilne reports that Taras Vysotskyi, Ukraine’s acting Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food, said this the day before during the Black Sea Security Forum.
As the acting minister noted, 75% of agricultural exports go to the ports of Greater Odesa: Chornomorsk, Pivdennyi, Odesa. Another 12% — for ports located on the Danube River.
“This figure for the ports of Greater Odesa has increased several times. If we are talking about the Danube ports, then last year they worked actively, now their share has decreased a little,” the official clarified.
Vysotskyi also added that port capacities are not in short supply at the moment, and they allow covering all export needs.
“As of today, port capacities allow us to cover all export needs; even this year, we will end with average final balances.
Currently, there is no shortage of port capacities, but this is also because 20% of the territories are temporarily occupied, that is, our production volumes are smaller,” the minister noted.
At the same forum on June 14, the head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration announced that 46 million tons of products, including agricultural products, have been exported through Odesa ports since the beginning of 2024. And this, according to him, is 70% more than last year.
